Don’t Forget The Marketing

November 14, 2008 · Filed Under Internet Marketing

Most businesses that fail usually forget one main component of growing their business and that is the marketing. Entrepreneurs will typically have a good to great idea, but without effective marketing, they’ll never get that message in front of a large enough audience to make sales and make the business succeed.

So, basically don’t forget the marketing. The internet is become more and more of a default method for marketing, even for retail businesses. Internet business owners must overcome the thought process of “if you build it they will come”. In fact, if you hone your internet marketing skills, you’ll always be able to find something to sell. Look for the marketing first.

Here are a few ideas of how you can use the internet as a marketing tool to drive traffic to your website:

- Pay-per-click Marketing: you can pay for each click or visitor to your website through search engines such as Google and Yahoo. If you know the value of each visitor to your site, these become a very effective way to generate sales assuming you can pay less per visitor through pay-per-click than you are making per visitor.

- Article Marketing: composing articles and submitting those articles to other websites allows you to promote yourself as an expert in a given niche as well as leverage other people’s or company’s websites. For instance, ezinearticles.com is a domain that has a lot of “authority” with the search engines and millions of visitors per month reading articles on all kinds of topics. If you are one of the authors, you instantly have more credibility (assuming you’re writing good content as well).

- Social Media: blogging and other forms of “socializing” on the internet are great resources for getting visitors. People do business with people they know and this does translate to the virtual world as well. Although not always as effective as face to face meetings, virtual meetings can and will translate into sales.

- Online Video: if you have the capacity to create a video, do a little editing and submit that video to websites where you can promote, you’ll have a lot of visitors to your website. One of my internet projects produces about $200-300 per month after having created about 10 little instructional videos with a link back to my website. This all happens on “auto-pilot” and pay out whether I do anything more or not. Now, this is obviously a very small example, but has the capacity to generate some significant revenue above what I’m making on just one small project with only 10 videos.

No matter which of these methods you’re going to undertake, make sure that you’re always “selling”. Now, this doesn’t have to be a high pressure sale, it just has to be an invitation or call to action. People want to be told what to do. They want specific instructions that will help them achieve their goals. So, make sure to ask for the sale and do a strong call to action with specific instructions on what’s next.

So, in the spirit of a strong call to action, if you haven’t already, you owe it to yourself to pay less money for your credit card processing. Fill out the form on the top right corner of this page and I’ll work with you to get a merchant account at a fraction of the cost you’re paying right now. So, yeah, call me… it doesn’t take much time and the average merchant saves about $1000 per year working with me on their credit card accounts: 800-893-9540
